Update to how to address a judge
Yesterday, the Lord Chancellor announced that District Judges will now be addressed as 'Judge' and not Sir/Madam. This change has been made in order to promote gender neutrality and follows the example set by other countries.
While some may feel that this change is unnecessary, it is a positive step forward. By addressing District Judges as 'Judge', the judiciary are sending a message that both men and women are capable of holding positions of authority and respect within the legal system.
